Palam...Huh?

Many of you may be wondering the significance behind the name of Palam Collective. "Palam'' means fruit in the Tamil language.

Fruit is such a normal, everyday thing. We crave it and eat it without a second thought. Yet it has such a variety of color within all the different kinds, showing itself as they come into season. That describes us in a nutshell. You'll start to reach for our clothing without even thinking about it. Covering yourself in all things natural and colorful, the Palam way.

But doesn't fruit grow on trees?

Hey, I'm Keertana. My story begins in Chennai, located in the Tamil speaking state of South India. A place known for its temples and silks, and equally as hot  as the spices it grows. Growing up in the States, I was always surrounded by a blend of cultures yet it could still be difficult to feel seen.  I was the first generation to be raised elsewhere, but that just ensured I didn’t take the motherland for granted.

Palam Collective is my homage to my heritage and the vibrant places I come from. Each piece in our collection embodies the essence of being hybrid. Join me in celebrating this beautiful clash of cultures through fashion.

How do you keep from rotting?

At Palam Collective we believe that true sustainability is achieved through time. Our approach is rooted in timeless craftsmanship and thoughtful production practices. Nature doesn’t have more than four seasons a year, so why would we?

A tree only bears fruit as ripe as the person who nurtures it. That’s why, in order to keep our orchard strong, one of our long-term goals is to work with local weaving communities to help preserve the art of traditional craftsmanship.

And when it comes time that our garments are worn, they are able to go right back to where they came from  - the Earth itself.
